Art does not

It fills a life.
I explore how simple geometric forms can interact across an open field, how distance can create tension, repetition can create rhythm, and balance can emerge from difference.
Rather than following established visual conventions, I use these relationships to construct a distinct way of seeing, one that allows each work to exist independently while becoming part of the space around it.

OUR PRINCIPLES
Four principles that guide every mark we make.

Form with intention
Every element has a reason to exist. Geometry is not used simply as a visual device. Each form, line, interval, and proportion is considered for its role within the composition.

Rhythm through variation
Repetition creates structure, while variation creates movement. Forms may echo, shift, align, or interrupt one another to create a visual rhythm that keeps the composition alive.
These are not fixed rules. They are the principles behind how we construct a work. Each one shapes the way form, space, colour, rhythm, and balance come together.

Space is part of the work
Open space is not empty. It creates pause, distance, movement, and emphasis. What remains unoccupied is as important as what is placed within the field.

Balance without symmetry
A composition does not need to be symmetrical to feel balanced. Contrast, proportion, colour, weight, and position are carefully calibrated to create equilibrium without removing tension.

THE ORIGIN
From science
to form.
Sachin Sathawane spent twelve years in pharmaceutical science, working with measurement, analysis, precision, and structure. Years of observing patterns and relationships shaped the way he approached problems and saw the world.
In 2025, he left the pharmaceutical profession to pursue art full time. The transition was not a departure from that way of thinking, but an expansion of it. Precision became composition. Analysis became observation. Structure became a language of form.
Through continued exploration of geometry, colour, space, rhythm, and balance, this approach developed into Field Modularism, a visual language through which Sachin explores how simple forms can create complex visual experiences.
Pencil Spark is where a scientific mind finds another way to construct, question, and express.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE PRACTICE
Art is experienced before
it is understood.
Neuroaesthetics explores how the brain responds to visual form, colour, proportion, pattern, and space. My background in pharmaceutical science led me to approach art with the same curiosity toward observation, structure, and perception.
In my practice, these ideas inform how compositions are constructed. Visual hierarchy, repetition, contrast, spatial intervals, and balance are considered not simply for appearance, but for how a work unfolds through perception.

Repetition creates continuity, while variation introduces movement. Together, they establish a visual rhythm that allows the eye to move through the work.

PAUSE · PROPORTION · EQUILIBRIUM
Open space creates pause and emphasis, while proportion, colour, scale, and spatial weight create equilibrium. Balance does not require symmetry; it can emerge through tension and difference.
