The Luminous Void Series

Introduction

Silent Transmission explores an invisible signal moving through a visible environment. The artwork combines an abstract architectural scene with the metaphor of a transmitted force, allowing the composition to be understood simultaneously as a landscape and as a visual representation of energy, radiation, sound, or frequency.

Concept

The work is built around three conditions: before, transmission, and after.

The upper environment represents a state before the event—structured, illuminated, and stable. A thin green line passes horizontally through the composition, representing the silent transmission itself. Below it, the environment appears darker and altered, suggesting what remains after the signal has passed through.

The exact nature of the transmission is intentionally left open. It may be radiation, energy, sound, frequency, or an unknown signal. The artwork uses this ambiguity to allow the metaphor and the visual scene to coexist.

Design Process

The composition was developed around a strong horizontal division, with geometric structures positioned above and below the central signal. The forms were simplified and repeated to create a relationship between the two states.

The green line was deliberately kept extremely thin and continuous. Its simplicity contrasts with the larger architectural forms, allowing a small visual element to become the catalyst for the entire composition.

Composition Analysis

The upper section reads as an abstract architectural landscape. Vertical structures rise from a deep blue atmospheric field, with warm yellow and ochre surfaces creating the impression of illuminated buildings.

At the centre, the green line establishes a precise boundary between the two environments. It can be read as a horizon, a signal, a radiation band, or a frequency travelling through space.

Below it, the architectural forms return in darker and altered configurations. They resemble reflections of the structures above, yet their differences prevent them from being understood as simple reflections. They can instead be read as a transformed state following the transmission.

This dual reading is intentional: the artwork can be experienced as a scene first and as a metaphor second.

Colour Study

Blue creates the atmospheric environment and establishes depth.

Yellow and ochre form the illuminated architectural structures, giving the upper environment warmth and stability.

Green represents the transmission. Its unusual presence against the surrounding palette makes it the visual and conceptual signal of the work.

Deep red-brown and dark tones create the lower atmosphere, producing a noticeable change in mood and suggesting the altered condition after the event.

Visual Experience

At first glance, the viewer may perceive an abstract cityscape or architectural environment. Gradually, the relationship between the upper and lower forms becomes apparent.

The eye follows the green line across the composition and begins to question its role. Is it a horizon, a reflection, a sound signal, radiation, or something else?

This uncertainty is intentional. The artwork allows different interpretations to coexist without requiring one definitive answer.

Studio Notes

Silent Transmission combines architecture, atmosphere, signal, and transformation within a single visual language. The visible structures provide the scene, while the invisible transmission provides the underlying metaphor.

The work is concerned not with depicting the force itself, but with making an invisible event perceptible through the changes it produces.

As part of The Luminous Void, the artwork expands the series from light and shadow into the relationship between energy, transmission, space, and transformation.
