First Awareness
Healing Forms Series
Overview
The First Awareness explores the moment before thought takes form, a state of pure presence where awareness exists without interpretation. Through symbolic geometry, layered spatial relationships, and intentional visual reduction, the artwork reflects the transition between unconscious perception and conscious experience.
Visual Narrative
The central composition resembles a seated meditative figure, creating an immediate association with stillness, presence, and inner observation. A dark circular form acts as the head or centre of awareness, while the geometric structure below suggests a grounded body in quiet repose. Horizontal elements surrounding the figure resemble thoughts moving through the mind, gradually becoming fewer and quieter as they extend outward. Beneath the visible form, subtle geometric structures emerge like deeper layers of consciousness, suggesting that awareness extends beyond what is immediately perceived.
Philosophy
The First Awareness reflects the understanding that before thoughts, judgments, and narratives arise, there exists a simple state of presence. It is the moment of noticing before interpretation begins. The artwork invites contemplation on awareness itself—the quiet observer beneath the constant movement of the mind.
Neuro Aesthetic Approach
Balanced symmetry, clear geometric relationships, and expansive negative space create visual stability and cognitive ease. Soft neutral tones encourage calm attention, while the gradual reduction of horizontal elements mirrors the experience of mental quieting. The central dark form naturally anchors the gaze, helping attention settle into a focused yet relaxed state. Together, color, form, and rhythm support mindfulness, contemplation, and sustained observation.
Artistic Approach
Using a minimalist visual language of geometry, symbolism, and spatial balance, the artwork transforms an internal state of consciousness into a universal visual experience. The composition intentionally balances structure and openness, allowing viewers to discover their own meaning while remaining connected to the central theme of awareness.
Interior Aesthetic
Its refined monochromatic palette and contemplative composition complement modern, minimalist, Scandinavian, Japandi, and wellness-focused interiors. The artwork brings depth, stillness, and quiet sophistication to meditation spaces, living rooms, studios, and reflective environments.
