Passing Thoughts
Form of Feeling Series
Overview
Passing Thoughts explores the changing landscape of inner experience. Through shifting color fields, interrupted forms, and a quiet center, the artwork reflects the continuous movement of thoughts and emotions against the backdrop of deeper feeling. It becomes a meditation on impermanence and the presence that remains beneath mental activity.
Visual Narrative
The composition is organized around a small white circle suspended within a dark horizontal field. Around it, tilted forms occupy separate zones, each carrying its own visual weight and direction. Thin yellow lines traverse the composition, passing across the central space without interruption or attachment.
The background itself becomes an emotional landscape. Rather than acting as a neutral backdrop, the changing fields of color represent different inner states that coexist and overlap. Together, they create an environment through which thoughts arise, move, and eventually fade.
At the center, the white circle remains still. Though surrounded by movement and crossed by passing currents, it preserves its quiet presence.
Philosophy
Passing Thoughts reflects the idea that thoughts and emotions are temporary movements within a deeper field of experience.
The various color zones represent different states of feeling, moments of uncertainty, introspection, memory, pressure, and emotional depth. These states continuously change, forming the atmosphere in which the mind operates. They are not fixed identities, but conditions that arise and dissolve.
The yellow lines symbolize thoughts in motion. They come from different directions, cross awareness, and continue onward. They do not remain, nor do they possess the center.
At the heart of the composition, the white circle represents awareness itself. Untouched by the movements around it, it observes without resistance and remains unchanged despite the constant flow passing through.
The artwork suggests that inner peace does not depend on controlling thought, but on recognizing that thoughts are visitors rather than permanent realities.
Neuroaesthetic Approach
Through asymmetry, muted colors, and restrained geometry, the composition creates a balance between movement and stillness. The tilted forms introduce instability and variation, while the uninterrupted presence of the circle provides a sense of equilibrium.
The background fields act as emotional territories, revealing that feelings themselves shape the inner landscape in which thoughts appear. The soft contrasts between colors create depth and emotional complexity, while the yellow lines introduce rhythm and continuity, reinforcing the transient nature of mental activity. Together, color and composition encourage reflection, slow observation, and contemplative awareness.
Artistic Approach
Using a minimalist visual language of shape, color, and space, the artwork transforms inner experience into a universal visual form. Through shifting color fields, simple geometry, and the contrast between movement and stillness, Passing Thoughts expresses the relationship between awareness and the endless flow of mental activity.
Interior Aesthetic
Its layered colors and contemplative composition complement contemporary, minimalist, Scandinavian, Japandi, and modern interiors. The artwork brings depth, quiet sophistication, and emotional resonance to living rooms, bedrooms, studios, and reflective spaces.
