Divergence
Style: Field Modularism
Overview
Divergence explores the movement of forms away from a shared point, establishing relationships between direction, separation, and open space. A concentrated geometric intersection gives rise to distinct directional planes and detached modules, creating a visual field in which movement and spatial distance become essential structural elements.
Project Description
The central idea of Divergence is how a shared origin can generate multiple directions and possibilities. The concentrated geometric encounter establishes an initial point of connection, while the forms extending outward create distinct visual paths. The work explores the relationship between unity and separation, suggesting that different directions can emerge from a common structure.
Visual Narrative
The eye approaches the central intersection before following the diagonal planes outward and downward toward the separated modules. As the composition opens into distinct spatial zones, the relationship between the concentrated structure and its dispersed elements becomes increasingly apparent. The visual experience develops through concentration, directional movement, separation, and openness.
Field Modularism
Within Field Modularism, geometric modules are arranged across an open field to establish relationships through direction, colour, proportion, and spatial distance. In Divergence, the central intersection anchors the composition while diagonal planes extend its directional energy. Detached modules introduce spatial intervals that preserve the independence of individual forms while maintaining their relationship to the larger visual system.
Neuroaesthetic Approach
The artwork combines geometric order, directional contrast, controlled colour relationships, and negative space to organise visual attention. The central intersection provides a focal anchor, while diagonal forms guide the eye through the composition. Separated modules introduce measured variation, allowing visual exploration without losing the underlying structural coherence.
Artistic Approach
Divergence is developed through a digital art practice based on Field Modularism, using geometric modules, diagonal planes, circular forms, and detached elements. Precise control of scale, spacing, alignment, and negative space establishes directional movement while maintaining balance between concentrated geometry and open space.
