Harmonics
Style: Field Modularism
Overview
Harmonics explores the relationship between repetition, rhythm, and spatial structure within an abstract geometric field. Concentrated geometric forms, curved linear movement, and repeated horizontal bands establish contrasting visual rhythms. Through measured spacing, colour, and directional relationships, the work considers how distinct visual systems can coexist within a unified composition.
Project Description
The central idea of Harmonics is that repetition can establish unity between different forms. The upper geometric field introduces complexity through angular structures and curved movement, while the horizontal bands below create a more measured rhythm. Their contrast suggests that harmony does not require uniformity; it can emerge through the relationship between different patterns, intervals, and visual frequencies.
Visual Narrative
The eye moves between the concentrated upper structure and the repeated horizontal bands below. A curved line introduces movement around a small circular element, contrasting with the stable rhythm of the lower field. This interplay between irregular geometry and measured repetition creates a visual experience of complexity, rhythm, contrast, and coherence.
Field Modularism
Within Field Modularism, geometric modules are arranged across an open field to establish relationships through repetition, proportion, colour, and space. In Harmonics, the curved line and concentrated geometry introduce directional movement, while repeated horizontal bands extend a quieter rhythm across the composition. These distinct elements form a connected visual system without requiring physical contact or identical structures.
Neuroaesthetic Approach
The artwork combines geometric order, repetition, directional movement, colour contrast, and negative space to organise visual attention. The concentrated upper field provides visual complexity, while the repeated horizontal bands establish predictability and rhythm. This balance between variation and regularity encourages gradual visual exploration while preserving a sense of compositional coherence.
Artistic Approach
Harmonics is developed through a digital art practice based on Field Modularism, using geometric modules, curved linear elements, colour fields, and repeated horizontal bands. Precise control of spacing, proportion, alignment, and colour establishes a dialogue between movement and repetition, allowing contrasting visual structures to coexist within a unified field.
