Superposition

Style: Field Modularism

Overview

Superposition explores the coexistence of multiple geometric states within a single visual field. A concentrated upper structure, intersecting lines, colour blocks, and smaller vertical forms occupy the same composition while retaining distinct identities. The work considers how separate elements can remain visually connected without resolving into one continuous structure.

Project Description

The work explores coexistence, connection, overlap, and potential states. A thin diagonal line establishes a relationship between the concentrated upper field and the smaller forms below, suggesting that elements appearing separated may still belong to an underlying system.

Visual Narrative

The eye first encounters the concentrated upper structure before following the diagonal line toward the smaller forms below. This creates a visual progression of concentration → connection → separation → coexistence, allowing independent elements to gradually reveal their relationship within the larger field.

Field Modularism

Within Field Modularism, geometric modules are arranged across an open field to establish relationships between form, direction, scale, colour, and space. In Superposition, concentrated and dispersed modules occupy the same field while retaining their individual identities. The connecting diagonal line becomes a subtle structural thread, demonstrating how separation and connection can coexist within one visual system.

Neuroaesthetic Approach

Geometric structure, controlled repetition, directional movement, contrast, and generous negative space create a balance between visual complexity and perceptual clarity. The diagonal line provides a subtle pathway for the eye, while spatial separation allows individual forms to remain distinct and gives the composition perceptual breathing room.

Artistic Approach

The work is developed through a digital art practice using geometric modules, linear elements, colour fields, vertical forms, and controlled negative space. Balance is created without conventional symmetry through proportion, alignment, spacing, directional relationships, and the contrast between concentrated and dispersed elements.
