Transversal
Style: Field Modularism
Overview
Transversal explores the relationship between diagonal movement and horizontal rhythm. Angular forms cross the upper field, establishing directional tension against the repeated bands below. Through contrasting orientations, colour, and spatial structure, the composition examines how different directional systems can coexist within a unified visual field.
Project Description
The concept of a transversal centres on a line that crosses other lines or structures. In Transversal, diagonal boundaries intersect the geometric field, creating an opposing direction to the horizontal bands and rectangular modules. This contrast transforms direction into a structural element, establishing relationships between movement, intersection, repetition, and spatial continuity.
Visual Narrative
The eye follows the diagonal boundary across the upper composition, encountering the orange plane, circular element, and compact blue modules before shifting toward the horizontal bands below. The change in orientation creates a visual exchange between directional movement and measured repetition, allowing two distinct systems to remain connected within the same field.
Field Modularism
Within Field Modularism, geometric modules, linear elements, and colour fields are arranged across open space to establish relationships through direction, proportion, rhythm, and contrast. In Transversal, diagonal planes intersect the upper geometric structure, while horizontal bands introduce a contrasting linear order. Their opposing orientations create visual tension and demonstrate how direction can organise relationships between otherwise distinct forms.
Neuroaesthetic Approach
The artwork combines directional contrast, geometric order, colour differentiation, repetition, and negative space to guide visual attention. The diagonal elements encourage movement across the upper field, while the repeated horizontal bands provide a more predictable visual rhythm. The contrast between these orientations creates controlled complexity while maintaining an underlying sense of structure.
Artistic Approach
Transversal is developed through a digital art practice based on Field Modularism, using angular planes, geometric modules, linear elements, and contrasting colour fields. Precise control of direction, intersection, spacing, proportion, and colour establishes a balance between crossing forms and repeated structures without relying on conventional symmetry.
