Vectra
Style: Field Modularism
Overview
Vectra explores direction, rhythm, and spatial movement through angular geometric forms, directional lines, repeated bands, and open space. The work transforms movement into a structured visual experience where different forms of direction coexist within a balanced field.
Project Description
Vectra considers direction as a structural force rather than a literal path. The concentrated upper geometry introduces directional tension, while the repeated horizontal bands establish rhythm, continuity, and measured movement. The open space between these elements creates a transition between two distinct spatial conditions.
Visual Narrative
The eye first encounters the active angular structure before moving through the open field toward the repeated horizontal bands. Direction gradually becomes rhythm, and rhythm extends into continuity, creating a visual progression of movement → transition → rhythm → continuation.
Field Modularism
Within Field Modularism, geometric modules are arranged across an open field to create relationships between direction, rhythm, colour, proportion, and space. In Vectra, angular forms generate directional tension while repeated bands establish a counter-rhythm, demonstrating how independent modules can create movement through their relationships rather than through literal representation.
Neuroaesthetic Approach
Directional geometry, repetition, alignment, contrast, and negative space create a balance between visual stimulation and perceptual order. The active upper structure engages attention, while the repeated lower bands provide predictability and rhythm, allowing the eye to move through the composition without visual overload.
Artistic Approach
The work is developed digitally through precise control of geometric modules, proportion, spacing, alignment, colour, and repetition. The composition avoids conventional symmetry and instead establishes balance through the relationship between concentrated and dispersed elements, allowing structure and movement to coexist.
