Vertex
Style - Field Modularism
Overview
Vertex explores the meeting point between geometric forms, directional movement, and open space. The composition centres on a precise intersection where multiple planes converge within a larger visual field. Through angular forms, contrasting colours, and controlled spatial relationships, the work considers how a single point can establish order within a complex arrangement.
Project Description
The central idea of Vertex is that a point of intersection can become the organising principle of an entire visual field. Separate geometric forms converge through direction, proportion, and alignment, creating a relationship between individual elements and the larger structure. The work explores how convergence can generate coherence without eliminating the independence of each form.
Visual Narrative
The eye moves toward the central meeting point before travelling along the diagonal forms and descending into the ordered horizontal bands. The circular element introduces a quieter visual anchor, while the surrounding open space allows the intersecting structures to remain distinct. The visual sequence unfolds as convergence ,direction, transition , structure.
Field Modularism
Within Field Modularism, geometric modules are arranged across an open field to establish relationships between form, colour, direction, rhythm, and space. In Vertex, angular planes converge around a central intersection, while the circular element and horizontal bands introduce contrasting visual forces. Their relationships create structural unity without relying on conventional symmetry.
Neuroaesthetic Approach
The artwork combines geometric order, directional contrast, colour relationships, and negative space to organise visual attention. The central intersection provides a focal anchor, while diagonal forms guide eye movement across the composition. Horizontal repetition introduces visual predictability, balancing the directional energy of the upper structure with a more measured rhythm.
Artistic Approach
Vertex is developed through a digital art practice based on Field Modularism, using geometric modules, angular planes, circular forms, horizontal lines, and controlled negative space. Proportion, alignment, spacing, and colour are refined to create structural precision while preserving tension between convergence, movement, and openness.
